# Get Started (Free)

The free tier gives you scammer alerts, basic chat filtering, CAPTCHA verification, and activity logging at no cost. Follow these steps to get protected.

***

## 1. Invite Daxeon

Click the invite link on [daxeon.bot](https://daxeon.bot) or use the "Add to Discord" button on the pricing page. Select your Discord server and grant the requested permissions.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Daxeon needs **Administrator** permission to function correctly. Without it, some features may not work as expected.
{% endhint %}

## 2. Position the Daxeon Role

In your Discord server settings, go to **Roles** and drag the **Daxeon** role above the roles it needs to manage. Daxeon can only moderate users with roles below its own.

## 3. Run the Setup Wizard

Type `/setup` in any channel. The wizard replies privately to you and works through your server's configuration step by step.

On the free tier, the wizard covers:

* Checking that the Daxeon role sits high enough in your hierarchy
* Setting staff roles (admin and moderator)
* Choosing a log channel
* Choosing which chat filters to set up
* Configuring the filters you chose
* Setting up ignored channels
* Enabling CAPTCHA verification

### Choosing your filters

The chat filter step gives you a menu with three options: **Link Filter**, **Invite Filter**, and **Cryptocurrency Filter**. Links and invites start selected because they are what most communities need. Cryptocurrency address filtering is there if your community trades. Leave it unselected and you never see an address screen.

Only the filters you select get a configuration screen, and you switch each one on from that screen.

### Safe defaults for links

The link filter step has an **Apply Safe Defaults** button. It allowlists a short curated list covering Discord and gif hosts, then switches link filtering on. That ordering is the point: the domains your members share constantly are already allowed before the filter starts deleting anything.

The free tier list is short enough to leave most of your 20-domain allowlist unspent. The screen shows how many slots remain, so you can plan the domains you want to add by hand.

{% hint style="info" %}
Impersonation filters, bot purging, and ignored categories are Premium only. The wizard skips those steps on the free tier.
{% endhint %}

## 4. What You Get

Once setup is complete, your server is protected with:

* **Scammer alerts** - Known scammers trigger a log notification when they join. Your mods can then ban manually.
* **Chat filters** - Filter links, Discord invites, wallet addresses, and handles, sharing a combined cap of 10 actions per day.
* **Allowlists** - Approve trusted domains, addresses, handles, and invites so legitimate content isn't blocked.
* **CAPTCHA verification** - New members must complete a CAPTCHA before gaining access.
* **Activity logging** - All Daxeon actions are logged to your designated channel.
